A Hostel is a friendly, comfortable and environmentally sensitive place that provides lodging for the budget-minded. Travelers from all over the world make use of our 150 hostels in the USA as a means for personal interaction and cultural exchange. Hostels offer shared, dormitory-style accommodation with separate quarter for males and females. Many hostels also offer coed dorm space and private/family rooms.

Everybody. Families as well as individuals, couples or large groups. Many hostellers travelling alone benefit from hostelling by meeting other travelers who provide them with up to the minute travel information.

Are there any age limits?
No, not at all! You only have to be young at heart. Except in a very few places, young people might be given priority when the hostel is nearly full. Only in Bavaria, Germany, an official age limit exists (maximum 26 years old). Individual travelers, in the US, under the age of 18 are required to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

What can I expect?
Large city hostels are likely to be open 24 hours a day. Smaller hostels, in the countryside, may have shorter opening hours and most hostels are open all year round.
Sleeping accommodation (usually in bunk beds) will range from rooms sleeping two to four people up to a big dormitory, though these are becoming much rarer. Blankets and pillows are provided but at some hostels you will need to bring or hire your sheets and pillowcase or a sheet sleeping bag in some hostels.
Most hostels have self-catering kitchens or cafeterias, dining areas, secure storage and commons rooms for relaxing and socializing with other travelers. Some hostels provide meals, have laundry facilities, travel libraries, and concierge services. Most major urban hostels have 24 hour access and are handicapped accessible.
