Welcome to HI-Boston’s Green Tour
HI-Boston is pleased to highlight the many environmentally friendly features of this wonderful building! Hostelling is an excellent example of low-impact travel by encouraging visitors to leave a smaller “footprint” through sharing rooms and communal spaces. Development of green hostels is an important part of Hostelling International’s mission.
The new Boston Hostel takes low-impact travel to another level. Constructed in the Dill Building, which was built from 1886-1888 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it is an excellent example of preservation and adaptive reuse of a historic structure. HI-Boston is also one of the first hostels in the country built to LEED certification standards. Centrally located next to Boston’s vibrant Theatre District and Chinatown, the building has more than 60,000 square feet of space on six floors, and has been fully renovated into a sustainable, green facility.
Green “G” icons have been placed throughout the building to indicate green design elements. Guests are invited, and encouraged, to explore the building and learn about this fabulous new hostel. We hope you’ll enjoy the tour and your stay at HI-Boston!
