HI-Boston Group Community Service
Hostelling International’s mission is to “help all, especially the young, gain a greater understanding of the world and its people through hostelling.” HI-Boston is not only committed to the hostel and its guests, it is also committed to facilitating intercultural understanding throughout the Boston community. The interaction between staff, volunteers, individuals, groups and community members contribute to increase intercultural awareness. If you are interested in helping with this mission, HI-Boston has a variety of opportunities.
Great Hostel Giveback
HI USA believes in the power of travel to open minds, and the power of community service to open hearts. Most of all, we believe these experiences should be rewarding, not costly. HI USA is currently accepting applications for the Great Hostel Give Back, now in its 5th year. In January and February, service groups of 10 or more can receive free overnights at our HI hostels around the country when they complete community service in the hostel’s local community. Voluntouring and Alternative School Break
If your group is interested in combining their trip with a service learning project HI-Boston is the place for you. This program allows your group to do more than just learn about Boston, it helps them connect with the community. Known to many as Alternative Spring Break (ASB), HI-Boston calls it Voluntouring because groups can participate at any time of year. HI-Boston helps you plan all of the details whether it is just a few hours, or a whole week, this program is sure to enrich your stay in Boston.
